14 questions cannot score you

They can tell you whether anatomy feels familiar. They cannot tell you how many points it is costing you, or whether your hours belong here or in another section. A scored test with all four sections can.

What the TEAS asks about anatomy and physiology

The Science section is 50 questions in 60 minutes, and44 of them are scored. Anatomy and physiology is 18 of those, more than Biology and Chemistry put together. Most questions ask for one of two things: where a structure is, or what it does.

The questions are spread across the body systems, with the same few coming up most:

  • Cardiovascular. The chambers and valves of the heart, the order blood flows through them, and what the vessels and blood components do.
  • Respiratory. The path air takes, where gas exchange happens, and how the diaphragm moves it.
  • Digestive. The order of the organs, which enzymes act where, and what the accessory organs add.
  • Nervous and muscular. The central and peripheral divisions, the parts of a neuron, and the three types of muscle.
  • Endocrine. The glands and the hormones each one releases.

The reproductive, urinary, immune, skeletal and integumentary systems appear as well, along with the vocabulary of position and direction and the idea of homeostasis and negative feedback.

Why this is the topic to study first

Two things make an hour of anatomy worth more than an hour of almost anything else on the exam. It carries 18scored questions, and it responds quickly to practice: it is a finite list of structures and functions, which is exactly what drilling is good at. Chemistry responds as quickly but carries 8 questions.

That is the argument behind studying by points per hour, and the study plan generator will put it into a calendar for your test date.

How to use a quiz like this

  • Read the explanation even when you were right. A lucky guess teaches nothing until you know why the answer holds.
  • Read why the wrong options are wrong. On the exam the wrong options are built from real facts about a neighboring structure. Knowing what each one actually describes is half the topic.
  • Note the system, not the question. If you miss two questions on the heart, the thing to review is the heart, not those two questions.

Questions

How hard are these questions?

They are written to the level of the TEAS 7 Science section, which tests anatomy and physiology as general education, not as clinical nursing. The quiz starts with the easier questions and ends with the harder ones.

How much of the TEAS is anatomy and physiology?

18 of the 150 scored questions, which is 12% of your total score. It is the largest topic in the Science section and tied for the largest on the whole exam.

Do I need to take an anatomy and physiology course before the TEAS?

No. The TEAS is sat before a nursing program, and nothing about the exam requires the course. Having taken A&P helps, because most questions ask for a structure and what it does, but the content is a defined list that can be studied directly. Any course your program requires before admission is a separate matter, and it is listed on the program’s own page.

What should I do after this quiz?

A short quiz on one topic cannot tell you where your points are across the exam. The free 30-question diagnostic scores all four sections and ranks the topics by points per hour of study.

Anatomy is one of twelve topics.

The free diagnostic covers all four sections in thirty questions and tells you which topics are costing you the most points.

Two ways to get your money back

1. Seven days, no questions

Email us within seven days of buying and we refund you in full, as long as you have not completed a full-length simulation. We do not ask why.

2. The score guarantee

Complete your plan, score 85% or better on two full-length simulations, and if you still miss your program’s required score we refund you in full and reimburse your retake fee up to $120.

  1. You completed the personalized study plan in your account.
  2. You scored 85% or higher on two full-length simulations inside the Pass Kit.
  3. You sat the exam within your access window and sent us a copy of your official score report.
  4. Your composite score was below the required score you recorded in your account before the exam.

Applies to the Pass Kit. It is a refund policy with conditions, not a promise that you will pass.

How you are paid

Back to the card you paid with, through Stripe. We start it the day we agree it. Your bank usually takes five to ten days after that.
